4 arrested in Mitchell's Plain for illegal firearm, ammunition and drugs

Metro police officers made four arrests during operations in Lentegeur, Mitchell’s Plain on Wednesday morning.

‘’At around 8am, officers noticed a man sitting outside a known drug house. They sought permission to conduct a search and found him in possession of a prohibited firearm, with an R-5 round in the barrel,’’ sais spokesperson, Ruth Solomons.

The 20-year-old was arrested for the possession of a prohibited firearm and illegal ammunition.

In addition, officers also arrested three suspects aged 16, 22 and 45 on drug-related charges.

‘’The 16-year-old’s guardian was contacted. All suspects were detained at Lentegeur SAPS,’’ added Solomons.
