Suspect to appear in court for Wynberg Mosque shooting

A 32-year-old man will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates Court on Wednesday on murder and attempted murder charges following a shooting incident outside a mosque in Wynberg on Friday.

‘’On Friday, 02 October 2021 police were summoned to a crime scene outside a mosque in Mars Street Wynberg where a male person was shot and fatally wounded and two males shot and wounded,’’ said Warrant Officer, Joseph Swartbooi.

Swartbooi added that the suspect was arrested in Heideveld on Monday Morning.

‘’In the early hours of (Monday) morning Anti-Gang Unit detectives conducted a tracing operation which led them to an address in Heideveld where the suspect was arrested.’’
