Duo arrested for stolen copper cables in Paarl

Two men will appear in the Paarl Magistrates court soon, after police arrested them on Wednesday, for destroying the rail infrastructure.

The police’s FC Van Wyk said that members of the Flying Squad were part of an intelligence driven operation at around 05:00 when they spotted a white delivery vehicle in Groot Drakenstein, Paarl East.

‘’A police chase ensued after which the vehicle was stopped next to the railway station in Brackenfell. Upon inspection members confiscated copper cables with an estimated street value of R36 000,’’ said van Wyk.

The duo, aged, 25 and 26 were arrested and detained on a charge of possession of stolen property.
