Suspects linked to Abirah Dekhta abduction to appear in Court

Western Cape Police said that the suspects involved in the kidnapping of 8 year-old Abirah Dekhta, will be appearing in the Wynberg Magistrate Court on Thursday.

This comes after the Rylands Primary student was rescued from a shack in Town Two in Khayelitsha on Monday, following her abduction on November 4 in Gatesville.

Speaking at the South African Police Service`s Festive Season Launch in Mitchells Plain, Police Minister Bheke Cele said seven suspects were taken in for questioning.

Western Cape police spokesperson Captain Frederick Van Wyk, said the suspects have now been charged.

“The suspects taken in for questioning for the kidnapping of 8-year-old Abirah Dekhta will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court”, he noted.

It is unknown what specific charges they are facing.

Dekhta has since been reunited with her family this week.
