Bloody weekend in Worcester sees five killed

The police are investigating the murder of a man from Zwelethemba in Worcester in the Western Cape.

According to the police, the deceased was stabbed with a knife in the stomach on Sunday. It’s understood he was stabbed at a tavern during an argument with another person.

The victim was transported to hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Vathiswa Jacobs, says police are still searching for the suspect.

Meanwhile, police are investigating two murder cases and three attempted murder cases after five people were shot in Avian Park on Saturday.

It is believed that the shooting is related to gang violence in the area.

One person was found dead on the scene while another victim died in hospital.

Police have since arrested four suspects in connection with the shooting.

The second victim is a 26-year-old who was shot while passing by the scene with his father. His father was also injured in the incident.

At the same time, two 15-year-old boys were shot and killed in the same area. According to the police, the victims were shot at by an unknown man on Tuesday in Avian Park.

The shooting follows the murder of two men in the same area on Saturday.

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Vathiswa Jacobs, says the boys were sent to hospital with injuries.

‘’Apparently the suspect got out of a white motor vehicle and started shooting in the direction of the victims. One victim was shot at the back and in the write shoulder and the other victim was shot in the right leg close to ankle.’’
