Teen gunned down hours before receiving matric results

Police are investigating the murder of an 18-year-old man, who was gunned down in Eastridge, Mitchell’s plain on Thursday.

Wakeel Dreyer was reportedly shot 17 times by a group of man, who pulled up at a tuck shop.

According to police, the pupil was declared dead on scene. While motive behind the murder is not yet known, police believe the murder is gang related.

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, has called on anyone with information that may assist the police in their investigation to contact the police.

"The unknown suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested. The motive for the attack is yet to be determined," said Swartbooi.

Dreyer was due to get his results at Beacon Hill High School on Friday.
