Premier of the Western Cape Alan Winde addressed connections of gangsters and police at the State of the Province Address

Alan Winde, the premier of the Western Cape, made an announcement and addressed alleged connections between gangsters and police during his State of the Province Address on Thursday.

Winde announced the establishment of a commission to address a Western Cape Police report into the alleged connections between gangsters and the provincial police, which found evidence to support the charges.

In addition, he stated that they were in  process of establishing a panel of distinguished individuals to make specific recommendations as to how they should respond to this problem that has infected policing and to ensure that crime-fighting leadership is untarnished by the proceeds of crime.
