Construction at the Sesami Bridge, which will connect Lentegeur and New Woodlands in Mitchell’s Plain, was halted on Thursday, following extortion.

Jansen, unknown men visited the Sesami Bridge Lentegeur/New Woodlands
construction site on 23 February 2023 at about 15:50pm and threatened the
contractor not to return to the site.
‘’We will not accept this kind
of thuggery that will jeopardize much needed projects in our community which is
important for the safety of our residents. We have alerted SAPS and our
Law Enforcement agencies who will be monitoring this site very closely.’’
The Sesami bridge will connect the Lentegeur and the New
Woodlands Community – upon completion of the bridge, pedestrians can safely
cross the railway.
The Contractor resumed work on site this past Monday
