Meanwhile, Sub Council 15 Chairperson, Angus McKenzie has condemned the incident. McKenzie initially thought a taxi driver was behind the incident.
‘’ A taxi driver has been arrested after an adult female was knocked and died on the Jakkelsvlei Bridge coming from Valhalla Drive in Kalksteenfontein. It is alleged that the taxi driver drove on the opposite side of the road when the accident occurred.’’
‘’We have consistently warned and engaged on the reckless driving by taxi drivers in the morning peak with a number of taxi insisting on using Bonteheuwel as shortcut to various other roads. I want to thank the team from Cape Town crime and traffic as well our police and law enforcement officers for their very quick and swift reaction.
‘’The behavior of taxi's on our roads is nothing short of disgusting, and with this arrest, we will track this case to the end to ensure that justice is served. This life should never have been lost, added Angus McKenzie, Sub Council 15 Chairperson.
