Odwa Collen Hlahla sought for rape after he failed to appear in court

Vredenburg police are seeking the public’s assistance to trace 26-year-old, Odwa Collen Hlahla.

Hlahla who is from Makhaya Dorra Thamame, Mandela Park in Khayelitsha, is accused of raping a 24-year-old woman and is on the run after he failed to appear in the Vredenburg Regional court in November 2022.

‘’He was a student at a local institute of learning in Vredenburg, and was arrested and detained on Friday, 31 July 2020 after he lured a 24-year-old girl to his home in Nikkel Street, Vredenburg on Monday 11 May 2020 where he raped her repeatedly. The accused failed to appear in the Vredenburg Regional court when the matter was remanded for Friday 04 November 2022,’’ said Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi.
