Cape man who murdered neighbour sent for psychiatric evaluation.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has welcomed conviction of Kyle Ruiters for the murder of 32-year-old Lynette Volschenk in 2019.

Volschenk was stabbed to death inside her flat.

Ruiters was found guilty of premeditated murder, violating a corpse and attempting to defeat the administration of justice.

He dismembered the victim’s body using a handheld saw.

NPA spokesperson, Eric Ntabazalila, says the state has asked the court to refer Ruiters for a 30-day psychiatric evaluation.

‘’This is in line with a report of Valkenberg Psychiatric Hospital who declared that he diiferent psychopathic traits and could be a danger to the physical and mental wellbeing of others

‘’The court indicated that he will be kept in custody until a place is available at the hospital,’’ he added.

The case has been postponed to 9 June.
