Police arrest suspect for assault to grievous bodily harm

Western Cape police arrested a man for assault to grievous bodily harm in Monwabisi Beach in Cape Town last week.

The suspect was arrested during a patrol by the Operation Restore members.

The police spotted a vehicle with the driver and passenger arguing and the passenger jumped out of the moving vehicle as the police approached it.

It is said that the police attended to the injured passenger, while the other members chased after the driver.

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, says another suspect was arrested in another incident for manufacturing drugs.

“The vigilance of Front Squad members proved successful on Friday the 12th of May 2023 when they arrested a suspect in Elsies River on drug related charges. The members pursued information of a truck that was hijacked earlier and while searching they noticed a suspicious premises and conducted investigation. In the investigation, they uncovered drugs with an estimated street value of R1.2m and led to the arrest of a 32-year-old suspect” added Swartbooi.
