Suspect arrested in Hanover Park for the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition

Western Cape police arrested a suspect in Hanover Park for the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition last week.

The suspect was arrested during a search by the Anti-Gang unit. The police received information of a building with a firearm hidden in it.

Police searched the building and successfully recovered a 9mm pistol with ammunition.

According to the police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, other suspects were arrested in another incident for murder.

“The members also conducted a tracing operation and arrested two wanted suspects in a Phillipi murder case. The suspects 20 and 21 years old are believed to be affiliated to a gang group in Hanover Park, they are due to appear in the Athlone Magistrates Court on Monday” said police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk.
