The 53-year-old and 45-year-old suspects, a warrant officer and a sergeant, face charges of corruption. According to Hawks spokesperson, Zinzi Hani, the two suspects were arrested after their morning parade.

“Their arrest emanates from information received about suspected warders who were receiving money from inmates in January this year,” Hani said.

The suspects’ crimes are alleged to have happened between March 2020 and 2021. This then led to the matter being reported to the Hawks. The pair are expected to make their first court appearance on Tuesday at the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court.
