A teenage boy has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for murder in Northern Cape

Itumeleng Godfrey Marekwa aged 20 was murdered in Barkly West and Emmanuel Ali who is 19 years of age received a 10-year direct prison sentence.

In December 2021 Itumeleng Marekwa was working as a shopping trolley assistance outside of Shoprite when he had a brief disagreement with the accusedand the accused stabbed him in the neck.

According to the police’s Investigating Officer, D/Sgt Kgositsile Taolo of the Barkly West SAPS, The victim Marekwa died on the scene and the police arrested Ali.

Then on Tuesday, Emmanuel Ali finally pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for murder in the Kimberly Regional Court.
