Cape officer arrested for allegedly raping his own daughter

A Cape Town police officer accused of raping his own daughter will remain behind bars for at least, until next week.

Police watch dog, Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID), has confirmed that an arrest was made earlier this week. IPID believes that the accused is attached to the crime intelligence division.

It is understood that he will face charges of rape and 3 counts of sexual assault.

‘’The accused is said to have been arrested by the police on the 12th [of September 2023]...He is alleged to be stationed at Crime Intelligence Wynberg,’’ said IPID’s spokesperson Robbie Raburabu.

‘’IPID is investigating a case of rape and the face 3 counts of sexual assault against the 41-year-old male from the crime intelligence and environment in the Western Cape who raped his 15-year-old daughter,’’ added Raburabu.

The accused appeared in court on Thursday, and the case was postponed to 22 September 2023 for a formal bail application.
