Luxolo Mbhokhwe appeared at Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court on Monday, after he was arrested last Thursday, for the murder of Sergeant Simphiwe Kwepile.

Kwepile was stationed at Nyanga police station and was brutally murdered in June 2023 at Mandela Park in Khayelitsha.

‘’The Hawks have since taken up the investigation and ensured that they don’t leave no stone unturned until yesterday [Thursday] when they eventually effected an arrest,’’ said Warrant Officer, Zinzi Hani, at the time.

The case has been postponed to Thursday, for further investigation.

The Hawks’ Provincial Head in the Western Cape, Major General Mathipa Makgato applauded the team for executing the arrest and further expressed his desire that justice could prevail as police murders have become prevalent in the Western Cape.
