Western Cape police arrested a suspect for possession of an illegal firearm in Bonteheuwel.

Police arrested suspects on Tuesday for possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.

The police searched the suspect’s premises in Bonteheuwel and successfully recovered a firearm. Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, says another suspect was arrested in another incident in River View for the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.

“We responded to a complaint of a shooting incident in progress in Riverview as they made the way to the area they saw four males running in David Street and apprehended the suspects and in the process confiscated a 9mm pistol with ammunition”, said Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi.

The suspect will appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court once charged.
