Law enforcement officer in M/Plain three sheets to the wind whilst on duty

A Law Enforcement officer from Mitchells Plain has landed himself in hot water after a video of him went viral, as he was allegedly three sheets to the wind, in the company’s vehicle.

In the three videos that went viral, two men are heard questioning the officer who is seen in uniform and allegedly idling the vehicle for nearly an hour while he takes a nap. The video, was allegedly filmed at Shell Garage in Westridge

In another video, a civilian is seen taking the state vehicle on a joyride. The man is seen flashing the vehicle’s lights and playing with the siren while the officer laughs and eats ice cream.

Law Enforcement spokesperson, Wayne Dyason, confirmed they were aware of the allegations and are investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, the case against another Law Enforcement Officer has been postponed. 27-year-old Marcelino Wentzel killed a father of three in Mitchells Plain, in March 2023. Jody Arendse, from Bonteheuwel, was walking to a relative’s house, when he was allegedly knocked down by the officer. Wentzel was said to be intoxicated behind the wheel. He has been charged with culpable homicide.
