A MyCiti bus driver has been suspended following an accident that occurred on Tuesday morning on Searle Street on to the onramp bridge to the N2.

Mayco Member for Urban Mobility, Rob Quintas, said no fatalities were reported, but the bus driver as well as nine passengers from the other vehicle, which was a HG travelling services bus, were injured. It is understood the MyCiti bus was enroute to the depot for refueling.

Quintas said investigations are underway.

‘’At this stage it is unclear what caused the accident, but the vehicle operating company, which is contracted by the City to operate the N2 express service has suspended the bus driver, as is required by the operating contract. Once the investigations is complete, an accident report will be submitted to the City; the finding of which will inform any steps that may need to be taken. The City is committed to provide a world class transport system to our residents with passenger safety being non-negotiable,’’ said Rob Quintas, Mayco Member for Urban Mobility.
