Two mass murders reported in the Cape within 48hrs.

Three men were shot and killed in Mfuleni, in the early hours of Monday.

The police’s Andrè Traut said the incident occurred at around 02:40 in Government Street, Bardale.

‘’One of the victims is a 31 year old man while the other two are yet to be identified. It is believed that the victims were attacked by unknown assailants who opened fire at them with assault rifles,’’ said Colonel Andrè Traut.

He said the motive of the attack is under investigation.

Meanwhile four men were gunned down in Albertina Sisulu Drive, Makhaya, Khayelitsha, over the weekend.

“The Serious and Violent Crimes (SVC) detectives are probing an incident that claimed the lives of four men aged between 30 and 40 in Albertina Sisulu Drive, Makhaya on Saturday night at around 7.50pm, when they were shot and killed by unknown suspects,’’ said Colonel Andrè Traut.

“Two other men were also injured during the same incident and are being treated in hospital. The suspects fled the scene and are being pursued by police. The motive for the multiple murder case is yet to be determined,’’ he added.

Western Cape Police Oversight and Community Safety MEC, Reagen Allen, described the mass murders as ‘horrific’.

‘’SAPS’ intelligence to prevent these incidents from occurring must be sharpened. We cannot have these recurring in ANY of our areas. It is extremely important that the supply line that the easy access to weapons is immediately interrupted and stopped. Along with the relevant and weapon charges, those supplying firearms and ammunition should also be charged with the one pulling the trigger. The suppliers are showing too they don’t have any regard to life.

Allen reminded citizens of the up to R5 000 reward to report the whereabouts of any illegal firearms.
