Cape Winelands District Municipality advances in its battle with veld fires

In the fight against multiple veld fires in the Cape Winelands District, firefighters have made headway.

With the exception of the one on the Brandvlei Mountains, the most of the fire lines have been contained, according to the Cape Winelands District Municipality. The fire is burning towards the jail at Brandvlei.

Even in the places where the fires have been contained, there are still some hot spots. The threat is still present, according to Jo-Anne Otto, a spokesperson for the Cape Winelands District Municipality.

Although most fires have been contained, the ground is still very hot and there are a few small spots here and there. The danger however is not yet over; there is still a lot of work that needs to be done until the fire is completely extinguished Said Cape Winelands District Municipality spokesperson, Jo-Anne Otto
