Oakdale Secondary School parents want answers from the Gauteng Education MEC after a learner dies.

Parents at the Oakdale Secondary School in Ennerdale called the Gauteng Education MEC to get to the root of the alleged ongoing gang violence in the school.

MEC Matome Chiloane visited the school yesterday following a grade 8 pupil’s death. Siyanda Malinga and a grade 10 pupil were stabbed on Thursday after getting off the bus.

Malinga succumbed to his injuries and the grade 10 pupil is in hospital, his family is calling for justice and for MEC Chiloane’s to address the scourge of bullying in the school.

According to residents, the community has been pleading for security, better infrastructure, and a new school in the area for some time.

"Ever since 1994, there has been no new school here... to hell with our government they don't care about our children", said residents.
