Missing girl from Gugulethu found dead following shack fire

Western Cape police confirmed that 17-year-old Ongeziwe Kamlana’s body was found deceased.

The matriculant from Fezeka High School in Gugulethu was reported missing since 17 February 2024.

 ‘’We found a body in Kuilsriver. There was a fire in a shack, whereby a body was found. DNA samples were taken from the parents as well as the girl, to determine if indeed it was the girl, and sadly it was linked to the girl from Gugulethu,’’ said Western Cape Police Commissioner, Thembisile Patekile.

‘’There has been an arrest. The suspect was arrested on charges of murder. More charges could be added, as investigations continue. The body was found a few days ago,’’ added Patekile.
