Cape Town is restoring electricity supply to affected areas

The City of Cape Town is working to restore electricity supply to all areas that were affected by the weekend’s storm.

The wet and windy weather cut electricity supply to several areas in the metro over the weekend.

Affected areas include Mfuleni, Phillipi West, Lansdowne, Athlone, Crawford and Salt River.

City officials have restored power to some areas and are working on restoring electricity supply to the rest.

The city’s MMC for Energy, Beverly van Reenen, says she is happy that the weather has improved.

"Damaged infrastructure typically takes some time to repair and we are thankful that weather conditions have improved so that our teams can attend to remaining repairs safely,” said the Mayoral Committee Member (MMC) for Energy, Beverley van Reenen

"Our teams are doing everything in their power to ensure that supply in the remaining areas is restored as quickly as possible."
