Off-duty SAPS officer killed in Delft

A police officer was shot and killed, whilst two others were sustained injuries in Delft, last week.

The off-duty 31-year-old sergeant, who was based in Delft, was killed while waiting for his vehicle at a car wash in N2 Gateway.

“The circumstances surrounding a shooting incident in Palm Street, Delft South on Friday, in which a 31-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded and two other victims aged 25 and 40 shot and wounded are under investigation,’’ said Sergeant Wesley Twigg

“The 31-year-old victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the other victims were taken to a medical facility for medical treatment. The motive for the attack is yet to be established. The suspects are yet to be arrested,’’ he added.



The Hawks confirmed that it is probing the matter

‘’This office can confirm that the Hawks are investigating the murder of an off duty police official who was fatally shot in Delft on Friday, 29 March 2024. There is no arrest at this stage,’’ said Siyabulela Vukubi, Hawks spokesperson in Western Cape.
