The Giyani Regional Court has sentenced 44-year-old Sizile Senzeni Baloyi for the rape of a 14-year-old girl back in 2016.

The incident unfolded when the victim, who was waiting at the Mavalani bus stop for transportation, was offered a lift by Baloyi. Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said that instead of driving her to her intended destination, Baloyi drove to his residence where he assaulted the teenager. After the attack, he drove her back to her house.

The victim told her mother about the incident right away, and they filed a complaint at the Giyani police station. Baloyi was arrested back in 2016 but was released on bail. He was then rearrested in 2021 after DNA evidence linked him to the crime. He remained in custody until he was sentenced to twenty-five years in jail.
