The vehicle was located at Cobble Walk around 12:50. Upon conducting a search, the officers uncovered 6,332 units of abalone, valued at an estimated R1.5 million. The driver was detained on charges of possession of abalone, and the vehicle was seized as evidence.

This operation underscores SAPS's ongoing commitment to combat the illegal trade of marine resources. The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court following formal charges.
