Residents who live in Cape Flats claim the City of Cape Town does not care about them.

The  Residents living in the Cape Flats in Western Cape have accused the City of Cape Town of neglecting them. Several areas in the city are flooded because of the rain that started on Sunday.

The gale-force winds that accompanied the rain caused damage to some homes.

Every year, homes in Gugulethu, Hanover Park, and Khayelitsha flood, and locals complain that nothing is done to stop it.

They say the city has been focused toward catering to Cape Town's wealthy neighbourhoods.

According to Eskom, the extreme weather conditions in the Western Cape had led to multiple faults leaving approximately 13,000 customers without electricity supply.

“My furniture has been damaged beyond repair, I don’t know where I will spend the night and the next coming days and children will get sick from this cold,” said Thobelani Matshaya from Malema informal settlement.
