Case against the teenage boy arrested for the murder of Deveney Nel has been postponed

The case against the teenage boy who was arrested on Saturday for the murder of 16-year-old Deveney Nel has been postponed to next month

The 17-year-old suspect, who cannot be named as he is underage, appeared in the Caledon Magistrates Court Monday morning .

“The suspect will remain in custody at the Outenikwa Place of Security until he has to appear in court again next month”, said, NPA spokesperson, Eric Ntabazalila.

Deveney, a pupil of the Overberg High School, was found dead in a storage room at the school 2 weeks ago, after her mother reported her missing. She bled to death from the wounds she sustained.

Residents, including the school community, expressed their shock over the tragedy, Community Safety MEC Anroux Marais has asked for the community to allow the law to take its course.
