Gang-related shooting incidents soars in the Cape

A 36-year-old man was shot and fatally wounded in Lavender Hill yesterday morning. This follows the murder of two teenagers in the same neighbourhood last week.

‘’Steenberg police are investigating a case of murder following a shooting incident at Bonnieface, Montaung Village, Lavender Hill, on Wenesday, 7 August 2024. According to reports, police attended to the crime scene and upon arrival found the body of a man lying on the ground with gunshot wounds sustained to his body. The vicitim was declared deceased by medical personnel,’’ said Aneliswe Manyana, Western Cape police spokesperson.

Manyana says the unknown suspects are yet to be arrested.

Meanwhile, Claremont police are probing a double murder and a case of attempted murder, after two men, aged 23 and 38, were fatally shot in the car they were travelling in on Rosmead Avenue. A woman, age unknown, is recovering in hospital. A 16-year-old boy who was also in the vehicle at the time of the incident escaped unharmed.

‘’The incident on Wednesday occurred at around 13:30 in Rosmead Avenue between Dingle Avenue and Jesmond Way.
