In Mpumalanga, the Provincial Head Directorate for Priority Crime Instigative Major General Gerber, thanked the vigilance of counterparts from Border Management Authority, who acted with integrity while searching and successfully arrested a 39 year old South African male, who was caught attempting to cross the border.
The suspect wanted to cross the boarder of
South Africa into Swaziland by jumping through a fence police officials stopped
and searched him. The suspect was caught holding a plastic bag containing R424
800, the money was confiscated by police officials and booked in the SAP 13. The
information was delivered to the Hawks Secunda based Serious Commercial Crime
Investigation who intervened and took over the crime scene. The suspect was
taken in for questioning about the money and the origins of it, but failed to
provide information.
It was discovered that the money was not
declared as per FIC Act 38 of 2001 in terms of section 54. The suspect was
arrested and charged with the possession of suspected stolen property. The
suspect is expected to appear before the Elukwatini Magistrate Court today.
