Manhunt launched for alleged duo who murdered elderly woman in Kraaifontein

Police have called on the public to help find two suspects believed to be behind the murder of an elderly woman in Kraaifontein, three weeks ago.

The 64-year-old was shot and killed in Wallacedene after two suspects approached the victim under the pretext of purchasing meat from her.

‘’On Tuesday, 20 August 2024 at approximately 19:30, the 64-year-old female was shot and killed on the corner of Maroela and Ntongabini Streets, Wallacedene in Kraaifontein. Preliminary information gathered revealed that two suspects approached the victim under the pretext of purchasing meat from her. They allegedly followed the victim into her shack where the deceased was shot in the head. The suspects thereafter fled the scene on foot and have since evaded arrest. Tracking and tracing operations are part of the initiatives taken by police to trace the suspects,’’ said Lt Col Malcolm Pojie, Western Cape police spokesperson.

Police have since offered up to R100 000 reward to find the alleged perpetrators.

The suspects have been identified as 29-year-old Siyabonga Kholakele and 32-year-old Yanele Mangweni.
