The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has urged the public to refrain from misinformation circulating on social media about medical referral forms for the Grant-in-aid social grant.
The message doing the rounds via text messages
and voice notes, claims one needs medical referral forms for the Grant-in-aid
social grant.
SASSA spokesperson, Paseka Letsatsi, says Grant
in Aid is among the eighth SASSA social grants that are offered by the
organization.
‘’As an organization we are cautioning people
in general against this falsehood as the Grantin-Aid has its own requirements just
like all other grants and it does not need any medical forms as purported in
fake messages recently.’’
Letsatsi says in order to qualify for this
grant, one must be in receipt of an Older Persons, Disability or a War
Veteran’s grants.
‘’This grant is for individuals or grant
recipients who require regular attendance by another person for activities of
daily living owing to his/her physical or mental disabilities.’’
He urged those in need of grant-in-aid to visit
their nearest local offices for accurate information or check the requirements
on www.sassa.gov.za
