Convicted killer and rapist Thabo Bester requested access to a laptop and a modem while representing himself before the Pretoria High Court on Tuesday.
In his argument, he said that he needs the devices
to prepare for his trial before the Bloemfontein High Court.
Bester faces escape-related charges alongside his co-accused, Dr Nandipha Maguduma. He is currently in a C-Max prison awaiting trial at the Kgosi Mampuru Prison.
The court ruled his application as lacking urgency
and struck it off the court roll
When questioned members of the public were
against his request
“He should not get access to a laptop, he is a
convicted felon, especially since they just did that major raid, taking away
prisons cell phones and staff smuggled in the prisons.”
