Gauteng police have launched a murder investigation after three suspected criminals were set ablaze by community members in Sebokeng, south of Johannesburg.
The incident occurred early this morning,
following allegations that the trio had robbed and killed a 29-year-old man
from the neighbourhood.
According to Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo,
the community organized a search for the suspects and discovered them hiding in
a container.
They were taken to Sebokeng Zone-12, where they
were assaulted and set on fire. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
Gauteng Provincial Commissioner
Lieutenant-General Tommy Mthombeni has condemned this act of lawlessness.
