The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness says it has seen almost the same results across its emergency centres across the province, compared to previous years.
COURTESY: CDoH&WFigures released by the department shows that 2 549 trauma
cases and 5,365 non-trauma cases over the New Year’s festive period (between
00:00 on 31 Dec 2024 and 08:00 on 02 Jan 2025), with a combined total of 8,194
incidents, were recorded.
‘’While the numbers show some stability, the department
acknowledges the public’s ongoing efforts to prioritise safety and act
responsibly. Every thoughtful choice contributes to reducing the strain on
emergency services and creating a safer and healthier environment for everyone,’’
said Dwayne Evans, Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness spokesperson.
