Mauritian man shot and killed in a suspected hit in Table View

A 55-year-old man was shot and killed in a suspected hit on Saturday afternoon.

Western Cape police confirmed that the incident occurred outside a shopping centre in Table View.

‘’ Provincial Serious and Violent Crime detectives are hard at work pursuing leads in a bid to apprehend those responsible for the death an adult male earlier today, Saturday 22 March 2025. Reports suggested that unknown gunmen opened fire on the occupant of a motor vehicle in a parking area in Sandown Road, Tableview. The 55-year-old Mauritian foreign national did not survive this onslaught on his life. The unknown suspects fled the scene and they are yet to be arrested. The motive for this attack is believed to be a hit,’’ said Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, Western Cape police spokesperson.

Table View police said the victim was seated on the front passenger seat when he was fatally shot, and was robbed of his cellphone.

‘’Police were summoned to a shooting that occurred today at noon in the parking lot of a shopping complex in Sandowne Road, Parklands. At the scene police discovered a vehicle in which the body of a 55 year old male (foreign national from Mauritius) with gun shot wounds to his body, was seated on the front passenger seat. The cellphone of the victim was taken. The murder investigation is ongoing and the public is urged to refrain from posting images of the crime scene on social media,’’ said Captain Adriana Chandler, Table View SAPS spokesperson.
