On April 8th a taxi driver was shot dead in Wynberg magistrate's court. On Monday 14 April, Shireen Matthews appeared in court in connection with a taxi driver’s murder Dingalomoya Chintso (50) who was shot dead inside the same court, earlier this month.
Shireen Matthews was arrested in connection with the taxi driver’s murder as Matthews allegedly hired a gang to kill Chintso. The court heard that this was not the first time the victim was shot. Back in late 2024, Dingalomoya Chintso survived a shooting while driving a car. He managed to escape the attack.
It was revealed that the victim was a state witness in a case and only returned to Cape Town to attend the court cases.
Acting provincial commissioner Bongani Maqashalala said police made another arrest related to the murder on Monday morning. Maqashalala said police were hunting down four more suspects related to the case.
The matter is set to be back in court again on 23 April.
