Multiple deaths reported as bullets rang across the Cape Flats

A number of bullets rang across the Cape Flats over the past 24 hours, which saw multiple deaths and injuries reported.

A man was shot dead in Doring Road, Vrygrond, on Tuesday afternoon. A man sustained injuries after he was shot on Prince George Drive and Retreat Road, retreat. Wynberg police are also investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal shooting at Wynberg Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Police confirmed that they are probing murder in Elsies River, after a man was fatally shot in Eureka Estate.

‘’Ravensmead police responded to a complaint on Tuesday 08 April 2025. Upon arrival in Mallet Street at about 11:30 they found the body of a man who sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel. The unknown suspects fled the scene and they are yet to be arrested. The motive for this attack is yet to be determined. The circumstances surrounding this incident are now under investigation. Ravensmead police are investigating a murder,’’ said Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, Western Cape police spokesperson.

Four people were shot inside a taxi on military road, Steenberg on Tuesday evening. One succumbed to his injuries.

‘’ The circumstances surrounding a shooting incident on Tuesday evening, 08 April 2025, at about 19:15 on the corner of Main and Military Roads, Kirstenhof, where a 38-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded and three others shot and wounded are under investigation. Police members responded to a complaint of a shooting and upon arrival on the scene they found the victims with gunshot wounds to their bodies. The 38-year-old victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the other victims were taken to a medical facility for medical treatment. The motive for the attack is yet to be established. The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested. Kirstenhof detectives are investigating murder and attempted murder cases,’’ said Sergeant Wesley Twigg, Western Cape police spokesperson.
