Three
suspect were arrested for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition on
two separate incidents.
According
to the police’s Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, members deployed in Manenberg
policing precinct were busy with patrols on Sunday when their attention was
drawn to suspicious activities at a house in Jenny Schneider Street.
They
entered the premises and searched the occupants during which they recovered a
pistol with ammunition and in the process arrested a 26-year-old man for the
unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

members deployed in Gugulethu responded to information and approached an
identified address in Kick Informal settlement in the early hours of Monday.
Upon entering the house, they searched the premises and confiscated a revolver
with ammunition found in the possession of an adult male who was detained for
the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition” said Swaartbooi.

charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in
the Athlone Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charges.
