The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has appealed to parents to apply for Grade R, 1 and 8, for the 2026 academic year, if they have not done so already.
MEC David Maynier, particularly expressed
concern for those starting their high school career next year, as he says over
25 000 parents of learners have not yet applied. The deadline for on-time
admissions is on Tuesday
‘’We are already received applications for 132
226 learners for Grade R, 1 or 8 next in 2026 [as of Friday]. Applying on time
will help the Western Cape Government to plan better for a place for your child
next year. Don’t wait! Apply for a place in a school for your child during the
on-time admissions window.”
