Two more suspects arrested in connection of slain taxi driver assassination in Wynberg Reginal Court

Shocking details surrounding the criminal profile of a Strandfontein woman accused of organizing the gang hit at Wynberg Regional Court has emerged, as two more men are set to appear in court today.

While cops have arrested two more members of the Junky Funky Kidz gang. Shireen Matthews has been in jail before for a variety of offences.

Matthews this week appeared alongside her alleged boyfriend Abubaker Adams at the Wynberg Magistrates Court where the duo have been charged with eight charges following the murder of another alleged hitman Dingalomoyo Chintso, 49, at the same building on 8 April.

According to police records Matthews criminal cases date back to November 2017 where she was first arrested for assaulting a woman in Strandfontein. Over an eight-year period, Matthews faced over 40 criminal charges for various crimes including assault, theft, fraud, drugs, malicious damage to property, robbery and now murder. The records reveal that the cases were registered at various police stations, including Strandfontein, Milnerton, Rondebosch, Grassy Park and various other areas.

While she has been arrested several times, many of the cases against Matthews were withdrawn for unknown reasons. However, in 2017 she was found guilty for a theft case originating from Diep River and was handed an 18 month sentence which was suspended for four years.

Meanwhile, police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg says ongoing investigations into the murder led Western Cape Serious Violent Crime detectives to the southern suburbs where they arrested two males, aged 23 and 34.

Twigg reports: "This brings the number of suspects arrested for the murder to four. The two suspects will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates Court on Friday 25 April 2025 on a charge of murder."

The shocking shooting took place on the fourth floor of the building which houses the Wynberg Regional Court afterward false claims were made stating that the victim was a State witness. At the time of the incident, an eyewitness reported that a lone gunman wearing a maroon t-shirt and a black beanie approached Chintso and took a firearm out of his sling bag and fired four shots at his head.

Sources revealed that the victim was a person of interest in the murder of slain Junky Funky gang boss Ashley Phillips who was shot outside Brackenfell Police Station earlier this year.

The NPA also denied claims that Chintso was a State witness and instead revealed that he was appearing on murder charges.
