Police are on a manhunt for what is believed to be three suspects after they purportedly robbed a fast food restaurant in Strand on Sunday evening.
Police confirmed that the incident occurred in Gordon road.
‘’According to reports the complainant was busy helping the
fast food deliverers when she saw one of her co-workers running to the back and
a suspect following her, than some of the
other workers running outside,’’ said Captain F.C Van Wyk, Western Cape police
spokesperson.
‘’An unidentified male came to her pointing her with a
firearm and demanding the cash registers to be opened. Three suspects were
involved in this incident. They took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the
scene in an unknown direction. No arrest as yet, investigations continues,’’ he
added.
Strand police registered a business robbery case.
According to the Strand Patrol Neighbourhood Watch chairperson,
KC Gericke, the alarm was raised shortly after the robbery occurred. Sierra 47,
a member of the local Sierra patrol group and neighbourhood watch, promptly
responded to the scene
‘’Without hesitation, he responded swiftly to the scene. Multiple
role players were quickly on site, including Vetus Schola Group , AM Security
Services, Fidelity ADT, AMBO, GB sec, and SAPS. Sierra 47 immediately began
canvassing nearby businesses for surveillance footage. One clip showed the
suspects’ vehicle fleeing down a side street. While we couldn’t initially
identify the number plate, there were distinct visual markers confirming it was
the vehicle in question,’’ Gericke reported.
‘’Back at our control room, Sierra 1 began meticulously
reviewing footage from our Navic Cloud LPR system—vehicle by vehicle. Roughly
45 minutes later, we identified the suspect vehicle on one of our cameras.
Cross-referencing it with daylight footage gave us a 100% match,’’ he added.
Gericke said the vehicle registration was immediately
handed over to SAPS and the private armed response company servicing
McDonald's.
‘’Sierra 47 accompanied them to SAPS to present the
footage. The vehicle was then flagged on Navic and a case number issued without
delay. The suspects and vehicle are now officially being sought.’’
