Western Cape police are investigating a murder after a high school learner was fatally shot in Samora Machel. The 15-year-old was on her way to school when the tragic incident occurred
‘’Samora Machel police are investigating a murder case
following a shooting incident on Wednesday 11 June 2025 at around 08:20 in
Ashley kriel Street, Samora Machel, where a 15 year old girl was shot and
fatally wounded,’’ said Anelisiwe Manyana, Western Cape police spokesperson.
‘’According to reports, police members responded to a
complaint of a shooting incident on the mentioned address and upon they found a female victim laying on the
ground with gunshot wound sustained to her body. The 15 year victim was
declared deceased at the scene by the medical personnel. The unknown suspect/s
who fled the scene are yet to be arrested,’’ she added.

Philippi. It's believed the matriculant had left school moments before the
incident occurred.

detectives searched the crime scene for clues, where a 17-year-old boy was shot
and killed on Thursday, 15 June 2025. Information at our disposal suggests that
the boy was returning from school when an unknown assailant opened fire,
fatally wounding the victim,’’ said Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, Western
Cape police spokesperson.
No arrests have yet been made and the motive for the attack
is unknown.
Wednesday’s incident is the fourth learner living in Samora
Machel to be shot and killed in less than three weeks, reports GroundUp.
