Camps Bay Police Seek Public's Help in Identifying Suspect in Brutal Table Mountain Attack

The Camps Bay police are urging anyone with information to come forward to help identify a suspect in connection with a violent assault that occurred on Table Mountain on July 6, 2025. A facial composite of the suspect has been released, and authorities believe he can provide crucial information in their investigation.

The police’s Anelisiwe said, the victim, a hiker, was attacked by the suspect, who allegedly picked up a rock and struck her multiple times on the head. Fortunately, two other females approached the scene, causing the suspect to flee without taking anything from the victim. The victim suffered serious injuries to her head and eye, including permanent vision loss.

The motive behind the attack remains unknown, and police are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

SANParks has increased patrols in the area, and local safety groups are calling for more visible policing on major trails. Hikers are being cautioned to avoid walking alone and stick to busy, well-monitored routes ¹.
