Mitchell's Plain police are investigating a double murder that occurred in Rocklands on Thursday night
Police confirmed that
the gang-related incident occurred in Viscount Street.
‘’Upon arrival on the
scene they found the bodies of two males aged 37 and 40 who sustained multiple
gunshot wounds . According to reports a black and grey vehicle stopped next to
the victims and the occupant started shooting at the victims before fleeing the
scene. Both victims were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel.
The motive for the attack is gang related. Mitchell's Plain detectives are investigating
two counts of murder,’’ said Sergeant Wesley Twigg, Western Cape police
spokesperson.

involved in the Mitchell’s Plain Safety and Development Plan will meet on
Saturday in response to the recent surge in gang violence in the suburb.
‘’This engagement will
focus on the development and implementation of the Mitchells Plain Safety and
Development Plan. The meeting also aims to foster closer collaboration between
the department, law enforcement agencies, community organisations, and local
stakeholders to deal decisively with crime and make Mitchells Plain a safer
community,’’ said the Western Cape Police Oversight & Community Safety
Department, in a statement.
