Western Cape police are mourning the death of one of their own after a police official was shot dead in Browns Farm on Monday evening.
Police reports indicate the member who was attached to the
rapid rail unit in Pinelands and was off duty at the time of the shooting.
Western Cape police spokesperson, Brigadier Novela Potelwa,
said: ‘’It is alleged that two yet-to-be identified suspects shot the 48-year-old
victim in the upper body and later fled. He died on the scene.
The Hawks in the Western Cape has since taken over the
investigation.
‘’The motive for the incident is the subject of the police
investigation currently underway. No arrests have been effected yet,’’ said Potelwa.

Patekile has expressed condolences to the deceased police official’s family and
colleagues. Police said the identity of the deceased member is withheld until
his next of kin has been informed.
