City officials will have an ‘informal settlement workshop’ next week due to this week’s devastating fire under the N7 Vanguard Drive railway bridge.
Director of human settlement services Seth Maqethuka told the Cape Times that a distinction was needed to establish between ‘informal settlements located under bridges and people who were displaced and chose to live on the streets.
The bridge was partially reopened for traffic yesterday, but motorists will not be allowed to travel from Goodwoood to the N1. The south-bound lane will however be opened for normal traffic flow.
