Police are still trying to find the mother of the newborn baby found abandoned in a plastic bag in Kleinvlei last week Tuesday.
A passer-by came across the baby boy at about eight-o-clock the morning. The infant was lying between two refuse bins in Rembrandt Street.
The baby is still in hospital after examination tests were done on him. He is according to the Cape Times in the care of the Department of Social Services.
Police spokesperson Billy Jones said that they are investigating a possible charge of attempted murder and a charge of alternative child abandonment.
Anyone with information should contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
